The Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region stretches across northern China, with vast grasslands that have been the ancestral home of the Mongolian people for generations. The Hulunbuir Grassland is known as the "Jade of the North": in summer, herds of cattle and sheep dot the sweeping plains, and melodious pastoral songs drift on the breeze; the poplar forests of Ejina burst into their most brilliant golden hues in the golden autumn season.
The Naadam Festival, yurts, horsehead fiddles, milk tea, and hand-grabbed mutton together form the unique nomadic culture. Deserts and forests, lakes and volcanoes exist side by side here, creating extremely diverse natural landscapes.
