Mountain City Chongqing, where two rivers converge; Hongyadong's stilted buildings are ablaze with brilliant lights; the Yangtze River Cable Car glides through the clouds; and fiery mala hot pot bubbles away under the mountain city's night sky.
ABOUT · Destination Overview
Built on mountains and alongside rivers, Chongqing is renowned as the "Mountain City" and "Fog City". Where the Jialing River converges with the Yangtze River, the stilted buildings of Hongyadong cling to the cliffside; when night falls, the dazzling lights make it a spot often hailed as "the real-life version of Spirited Away". The Yangtze River Ropeway soars high above the landscape, offering a unique experience to traverse the Mountain City.
Ciqikou Ancient Town is steeped in rich dock culture, while Jiefangbei Pedestrian Street is constantly thronged with streams of visitors; the Wulong Three Natural Bridges, a filming location for *Transformers: Age of Extinction*, is a majestic and spectacular karst wonder; the Dazu Rock Carvings are representative of late-period grotto art. Chongqing hotpot, with its signature spicy, numbing, savory and aromatic flavor, is the warmest form of hospitality the Mountain City has to offer.
