Design Concept

In Miao cosmology, Leigong Mountain is far more than just a geographic peak. It is a sacred realm where deities dwell, the source of all life, and the spiritual home of the Miao people.
This is no cursory tour of Miao villages. It is a spiritual pilgrimage that descends from the sacred mountain’s summit down to the warmth and bustle of everyday human life. We will travel down the mountain’s vertical slope, traversing a living map of Miao spiritual culture: from the ancient animist faith that permeates the primeval forest, to the thousand-year-old rice seed genes preserved in the terraced fields halfway up the mountain, all the way to the song and dance feast where the entire community gathers to celebrate on the alpine meadows.
Over five days, you will step into the world of forest guardians, explore the living archives of rice-farming civilization, read the epic of the Miao people stitched into every piece of embroidery, and witness the crowning of cultural heritage through the art of silversmithing.
You are not a tourist being hosted, but an invited guest. Listen to the voice of the mountain, hear the stories of the people who have guarded this land for generations, and step into a way of life that has coexisted with these mountains for millennia.
What makes this journey unique
Four villages, four windows into Miao civilization
Each village showcases a unique facet of Miao culture, arranged in a carefully curated sequence to build a complete, holistic picture: from the ecological wisdom of Wudong Village, to the rice seed archives and embroidery traditions of Maoping Village, the celebratory community space of Hongyang Village, and the silversmithing art of Shidong Village. You will never feel that any experience is repetitive.
Mountain Hiking with Forest Guardians
Your hiking guide is no ordinary tour leader, but a Leigong Mountain ranger who has lived in this area for generations – they are living bearers of Miao ethnobotanical knowledge. Along the trail, you will learn to identify herbs used for brewing wine, sacred trees used in ancestral rituals, and medicinal plants, and gain insight into the ancient Miao cosmological belief that "the forest is family, not a resource." This is an in-depth journey that explores both natural and cultural dimensions.
Seed Workshop: Connecting with the Genes of Life
At the Seed Museum of Maoping Miao Village, you will hold hundreds of varieties of heritage rice seeds that have been passed down for thousands of years in your own hands. The village party secretary will explain the ecological wisdom of the rice-fish-duck co-cultivation system – this centuries-old mountain farming model is a benchmark for global sustainable agriculture from the East. You will also receive a hand-embroidered rice-pattern commemorative token made by local Miao embroiderers, and can even take part in stitching it yourself, as a unique memento of this cross-cultural dialogue.
A Banquet of Mountains and Rivers on the Alpine Meadows
At a prime scenic overlook on the 10,000-mu alpine meadow, local villagers will lay out a long mountain feast featuring only native, locally sourced ingredients. In the distance, the peaks of the Leigong Mountain range stretch all the way to the horizon, while the sea of clouds and the meadow lie right at your fingertips. This is no ordinary outdoor picnic – it is an emotional release for your journey to the Miao sacred mountain, with the sky and earth as your dining hall and the soft breeze as your companion.
A Sustainable Journey of Empowerment Through Travel
Every night of village accommodation, every meal, and every workshop fee is paid directly to local families and cooperatives. Every contribution you make supports the protection of seed diversity, the inheritance of intangible cultural heritage, and helps communities that have chosen to remain rooted in their ancestral land achieve economic self-sufficiency.
